Introducing: The Arsenal man surely set to break into England’s first-team

The Bundesliga is slowly becoming a destination for English talent in search of game time with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Ademola Lookman arriving to produce the goods in German football’s top division last season.

And Reiss Nelson is continuing that trend with his performances for Hoffenheim, which bodes well for the 18-year-old’s ambitions of one day playing for the England senior team.

Nelson, who is at Hoffenheim on loan from Arsenal, has made an instant impact in the Bundesliga after netting four goals in four appearances and could soon find himself heading in the same direction as Sancho.

Sancho left Manchester City last summer for Borussia Dortmund and has since been rewarded for going down such an unorthodox route for an English youngster.

After an array of game-changing cameos in the Bundesliga, the 18-year-old was called up for the last England squad before being given his debut in a UEFA Nations League clash versus Croatia.

If Nelson can maintain the current level he is playing at, there is no reason why he cannot follow Sancho into the senior England set up.

On top of the selection of Sancho, Gareth Southgate also rewarded James Maddison and Mason Mount with call-ups, further showing the Three Lions boss’ willingness to look towards young players.

With that in mind, it may only be a matter of time before Nelson becomes a full England international.
